Welcome to Rocky Mountain Cattle Dog Rescue

We are a group of folks who all own, train, and otherwise love Australian Cattle Dogs.

These dogs have been called heelers, blue heelers, Queensland heelers, cattle dogs, australian cattle dogs, ACD's but they are all Australian Cattle dogs or heelers.

Our mission is to find homes for adoptable cattle dogs who come to us in a variety of methods.  They are found in shelters, some are owner surrenders.  We do not have a facility where we have our dogs, we are what is called a "foster based" rescue.  This means that our dogs live in fosters homes with other dogs, cats, children, etc. and learn to adapt to a family.  A lot of these dogs have never been in a home before and need to learn how that works.  Foster homes are our lifeblood.  If it were not for the foster homes, we would not be able to save one dog.  To learn more about how to become a foster, click the link at the right.

If you are ready to live with a cattle dog, we ask that you do some research.  These dogs are not for everyone.  You must make a commitment to give them exercise and some mental stimulation. Click our link "About ACD's" and also read Mark Abbott's ACD Site by clicking HEREMark has a great resource for learning about cattle dogs.

So now you have learned everything you need to know about cattle dogs, here is how our process works.

1.  Complete an adoption application  Click Here.

2.  One of our volunteers will contact you to discuss the dog/dogs you are interested in and will set up a time and place for you to meet that dog.

3.  We will perform a home check and verify your references.

4.  Take over the care of your new best fur friend.

To start the process, check out the dogs available for adoption.

Fund Raising!

Maybe you aren't ready to adopt a new fur friend, or you can't have a dog right now but would like to help.  We need and appreciate any assistance that you can give.  Running a rescue is not inexpensive.  While we do collect a rescue fee, that barely covers expenses and often times, these dogs have more serious issues other than vaccinations and being spayed/neutered.  Our funds are used to pay for advanced training if needed, broken legs, or any other issues that come up to make sure that your new friend is the healthiest it can be.  If you would like to donate, just click the button at the bottom and make a donation thru Paypal.  Thanks, We Appreciate It!

Another way to help, is to purchase your dog related items through our store,  RMCDRSTORE.com Rescue costs money.  All of our dogs are fully vetted which means spay/neutered, complete set of shots, microchipped and any other issues they make have we take care of them.  We pay to have them transported to Colorado if they need to be moved.  We have many uses for money and every little bit helps.

Tell your friends about this dog related store and help us in getting these dogs great homes.

I am an Animal Rescuer"

My job is to assist God's creatures.
I was born with the drive to fulfill their needs.
I take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures
   without planning or selection.
I have bought cat food with my last dime.
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand.
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid.
I have fallen in love a thousand times.
And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
   too many times to count.
I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends.
I don't often use the word "pet".
I notice those lost at the road side
  and my heart aches.
I will hand raise a field mouse
and make friends with a vulture.
I know of no creature unworthy of my time.
I do not want to live forever if there aren't
animals in Heaven, but I believe there are.
Why would God make something so perfect
and leave it behind?
Some may think we are masters of the animals,
but the animals have mastered themselves...
something people still haven't learned.
War and abuse make me hurt for the world,
but a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind.
We are a quiet but determined army
and we are making a difference every day.
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan,
nothing more rewarding than saving a life,
no higher recognition than watching them thrive.
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who, only days ago, was too weak to eat.
By the love of those who I've been privileged to rescue,
I have been rescued.
I know what true unconditional love really is,
for I've seen it shining in the eyes of so many,
grateful for so little.
I am an Animal Rescuer.
My work is never done.
My home is never quiet.
My wallet is always empty,
but my heart is always full.
