Foster homes are the life blood of rescue. Without fosters we could not save these great dogs.
RMCDR is a foster based rescue. What this means is that we do not have a facility. We rescue our dogs and then place them in private homes where they once again learn how to be dogs.
Most of these dogs have spent time in a shelter. Life in a shelter is not good. It is noisy, there is very little people contact and cattle dogs need to have people contact. In most cases they have slept on a cold floor with just a blanket for warmth. They need a warm, safe place to relax and let the true dog come through.
Our foster homes provide this safe haven for these dogs. RMCDR will provide all medical care for the dogs and we are currently working to secure donations of dog food and when that comes through we will be providing our foster homes with free dog food.
We would like our dogs to be crate trained and we can provide you with a crate if you don't have one.
At times we will ask that you take dogs for vet appointments or help with a transport (taking to meet potential adopters).
Being a foster home takes very little time but the rewards are huge. To know that you have saved a life and in most cases, the majority of our dogs have been scheduled for euthanasia, there is no better feeling in the world.
We are here to support our foster homes in any way that we can, because without the fosters we could not operate.

Thank you for thinking about helping us save these great dogs and get them into homes where they can live out their lives in happiness.
